Windows

Most people use Windows for a part, if not most, of their computing. Unfortunately, the combination of cheap hardware, bad decision by IT departments and general neglect mean it's a miserable experience for many. It doesn't have to be this way.

For me Windows represents the best balance between Apple's singular vision and Linux's infinite swiss army knife. My work and workflows are sufficiently odd that I frequently can't do what I want on an Apple device. Also, I just don't feel cool enough. But equally, I don't need to roll everything myself in the way that Linux often requires.

This section is largely about doing Windows right. About how to have a good experience the OS and get what you need done with as little fuss as possible. Windows is very, very configurable. That's both good and bad. You can make things work extremely well, or extremely badly.
